Lovely Pizza from Pasta Zanmai

Pasta Zanmai is a Japanese restaurant under the SuperSushi group which serves Japanese + Western fusion food. Following are the drinks and pizza my friends and I had while we were there.
Food Photo
Hot Green Tea (R 3.00)
The green tea is of good quality as it has very strong green tea taste.

Bluberry soda & Passion fruit soda before mixing
Both the blueberry and passion fruit soda are pariced at RM 6.00 each.

Nothing to shout about these drinks. Tasted like ordinary soft drinks.

Teriyaki chicken pizza (I think is around RM 20-22)
This pizza is a lovely combination of Japanese and Western flavor. It is very different from pizzas from Pizza Hut or Dominos. The crust is crispy and thin, almost like biscuit. The pizza was topped with a hot spring egg, seaweeds and teriyaki chicken. Mayonnaise was used as dressing, making the pizza creamy. The tender chicken meats were marinated nicely with teriyaki sauce making them slight sweet in taste.

Hot Spring Egg
It is best to break this hot spring egg when the pizza is hot and mix with the other pizza toppings to have a yummy pizza. It is really worth trying out this pizza.........thumbs up...........

Dinner @ Wai Kei

Mum and I had our dinner at Wai Kei today and we returned home with a stomach full of good food. Following are the goodies that we had today:
Food Photo
Stir-fried Kai Lan (RM 8.00)
This is our only green for the night. Though just plain stir fried, the kai lan is not bad. It is full of chopped garlic, making it vey fragrant. It has the so-called "wok hei"....hehe.........
Food Photo
GoodGreat!
Stuffed beancurd skin @ foo chuk with fish paste (RM 1.00 each piece)
The bean curd skin was deep fried until golden yellow. And it is very crispy.
Food Photo
GoodGreat!
Lots of yummy fish paste were stuffed inside the foo chuk.

Ginger Wine Chicken (RM22.00)
As a person who love dishes with wine, I really liked this dish because it came withgenerous amount of wine. I drank all the soup because it is good to drink on its own. The ginger wine chicken also came with large amount of julienned ginger, wolfberries and fried omelette. Thumbs up...

Close shot of the fried omelette....I think there are 2 eggs being given...........

The meaty chicken in the wine soup is tender, juicy and rich in wine taste. After consuming this dish, my face actually became sligthly red and hot.....lol...........

Lunch @ Pasta Zanmai

Food Photo
I celebrated my friend's birthday in Pasta Zanmai a few years ago and we ordered the following food.
Food Photo
GoodGreat!
Unagi Onsen Rice Set (I think is around RM 20.00)
The rice set is huge and was topped with a hot spring egg and lots of big chunks of unagi. When the egg is mixed together with the rice, it makes the rice to become sticky which resembles the texture of sushi rice. The unagi was good too, where the unagi was grilled and coated with some thick soy sauce which was slightly sweet. Combine the unagi and rice together, and you'll get a very flavorful flavor. Besides the rice and unagi, a bowl of miso soup and salad were also served together in this set.
Food Photo
GoodGreat!
Kinoko Tori no Cream Sauce (RM 19.00)
This pasta is actually quite similar to the normal carbonara in which the mushroom sauce is creamy and milky. The chicken in this pasta is pan-fried. Only tender chicken meat were given, no bones. Good for a lazy eater like me..Many pieces of chicken were given.

Dinner at Woo Lan

Woo Lan is a fully air-conditioned Chinese restaurant situated in a quiet corner of Brickfields facing the down ramp of Jalan Istana. I was there back in 2009 with a few of my friends for dinner. We ordered the following dishes to fill up our tummy.
Food Photo
Stir-fried sweet potato leaves (RM 12.00)
Our only green for the night. This stir fried sweet potato leaves are fried with chilli padi and lots of huge chops of garlic. The addition of garlic makes this dish more fragrant while the chilli padi make it slightly spicy. Becareful when eating this dish because if you are not careful, you might bite into the chilli padi which can make you cry cause the chillis are really hot.
Food Photo
GoodGreat!
Homemade Beancurd with Minced Meat
This is a superb dish. The beancurd used is off good quality which doesn't have the bad sour taste as found in some not fresh tofu. The tofu is soft and smooth. Lots of minced meat were given, as can be seen from the picture the plate is full of minced meat. Besides, the gravy accompanying the tofu and meat were good as well cause it is not very salty. Just nice to go with plain rice.

GoodGreat!
Pa Wong Chicken
This chicken dish is my favorite for the night because of its appetizing sweet taste. The chicken cutlets were deep fried and then immersed in a sweet sauce containing honey.

Custard bun & Egg Tarts from Room Eighteen

Room Eighteen is a restaurant under the management of Tai Thong Group which sells a variety of Hong Kong cuisines and dim sums. Today, I packed their famous custard buns and egg tarts home to eat as my supper.
Food Photo
GoodGreat!
Custard bun (RM 5.80)
One set of custard buns consisted of 3 medium sized soft buns.
Food Photo
GoodGreat!
The custard buns' fillings consisted of a paste made from egg yolk and sweet custard. Remember to eat the buns when they are hot as the fillings will flow out from the bun and melts in the mouth. Super creamy and rich in egg yolk taste. One bun is never enough for me, thus I ate all three in one go. Extremely full after consuming all the buns.

Crispy egg tart (RM 4.30)
One set of egg tart consisted of two egg tarts.
Food Photo
GoodGreat!
The pastry is quite flaky and crispy but I don't really like the pastry because I find it a bit thick.
Food Photo
GoodGreat!
The egg custard is soft, smooth and runny and melts in the mouth. And the best part is the egg custard is not really sweet, just right for me.....Yummy yummy....

Portugal Grill Fish @ Oasis Food Court

Oasis food court used to be my makan place when I was working in Mid Valley. The Portugese Grilled Seafood stall is one my favourite place to eat. Why??? Because the grilled seafood there is good and cheap. The choice of seafood available is pretty wide such as sting ray, squid, prawns and clams. Price starts from RM 6.90 for a plate of grilled stingray. You can also choose to have two items in a set. For example, I had the following grilled stingray with squid at RM 8.90.
Food Photo
GoodGreat!
Grilled stingray + squid

For just RM 8.90, the portion given is quite decent. Both the stingray and squid are grilled nicely with the stingray's side slightly charred which makes it slightly crispy and fragrant. The chiili paste used in grilling the seafood is very tasty and exciting cause the spiciness is very high. Although I asked them to reduce the spiciness of my grill, the set still came in quite spicy. To lower down the spiciness, I squeezed lots of lime juice to make it less spicy and increase the sourness of the grill. Although the grill is appetizing, the chilli paste is quite oily and salty. But I think the saltiness is contributed by the dried shrimps in the paste and not due to high amount of salt or MSG. This chilli paste is really nice to eat with the plain rice.

P/s: Be prepared to wait for 15-20 minutes for your food to ready, but it is worth it for the yummy grill. Another option is to call them and order before hand to avoid the long wait.

Dessert time @ Gelatissimo

If you fancy some fresh nice gelato, Gelatissimo is the place to be. The first Gelatissimo shop was founded in Sydney in September 2002. And now, Gelatissimo, one of the largest gelato franchises in the world has established throughout South East Asia, the Middle East and even in the birthplace of gelato itself, Italy. Gelatissimo's gelato are made fresh daily. One can choose to eat their gelato in cone or cup. Gelato in cone is more expensive than in a cup.

Last Sunday, after lunch, YC and I went to Gelatissimo to grab 2 cone of gelato; one for each of us. YC had the green tea gelato, while I had the forest berries gelato. Each single scoop gelato in a cone cost us RM 9.90.

Green Tea
I quite like this green tea gelato because it is creamy and rich in green tea taste.

Forest Berries
The forest berries gelato falls under the sorbet range which is really sour, slightly sweet and refreshing. The sorbet is full of mixed berries flavor and is 100% fat free. The sorbet was smooth and melted easily in the mouth. Let the sorbet linger in your mouth for a while to have the pleasurable icy effect in your mouth.

Following are other varieties of gelato available from Gelatissiomo. Very attractive and colourful.
