Dessert time @ Gelatissimo

If you fancy some fresh nice gelato, Gelatissimo is the place to be. The first Gelatissimo shop was founded in Sydney in September 2002. And now, Gelatissimo, one of the largest gelato franchises in the world has established throughout South East Asia, the Middle East and even in the birthplace of gelato itself, Italy. Gelatissimo's gelato are made fresh daily. One can choose to eat their gelato in cone or cup. Gelato in cone is more expensive than in a cup.

Last Sunday, after lunch, YC and I went to Gelatissimo to grab 2 cone of gelato; one for each of us. YC had the green tea gelato, while I had the forest berries gelato. Each single scoop gelato in a cone cost us RM 9.90.

I quite like this green tea gelato because it is creamy and rich in green tea taste.

Forest Berries
The forest berries gelato falls under the sorbet range which is really sour, slightly sweet and refreshing. The sorbet is full of mixed berries flavor and is 100% fat free. The sorbet was smooth and melted easily in the mouth. Let the sorbet linger in your mouth for a while to have the pleasurable icy effect in your mouth.

Following are other varieties of gelato available from Gelatissiomo. Very attractive and colourful.

Seven Sins of Chocolate @ Delectable by Su

This is my first time patronizing Delectable by Su's shop. The shop is famous for its sugar crafted cakes, brownies, cookies, cupcakes, truffles and other sweet treats.

I got myself one of their specialties, the Seven Sins of Chocolate. This sinful chocolate cake is actually a cake made up of 7 types of chocolate varieties. The 7 types are dark chocolate chips, milk chocolate chips, cocoa powder, chocolate cream, chocolate ganache, chocolate cake and cocoa nibs. The cake is best eaten when it is cold and make sure to consume it within two days while it is still fresh.

Overall, I am really satisfed with this cake because it is full of chocolate goodness but not overly sweet as usualu, something that is so rich in chocolate would be very sweet. But this cake is not. Thumbs up.

The top layer of the cake which consisted of dark chocolate chips, milk chocolate chips, cocoa powder and cocoa nibs. Very attractive presentation. My favourite is the dark chocolate chips and least favourite is the cocoa nbs because it is quite tasteless and hard.

The chocolate ganache and chocolate cream layer. When it is still cold, this layer of chocolate cream has a texture similar to ice cream. Very smooth and creamy.

If possible, try to eat all the layers of cakes together to get the best of it. I am sure all chocolate cake lovers out there will fall in love with this cake and those who are down will feel happier after consuming it....Yummy yummy....

Lunch @ Fresca Mexican Kitchen & Bar

My first Mexican dining experience is given to Fresca Mexican Restaurant & Bar at The Gardens Mall. It is located just opposite Han's Room. This Mexican restaurant has a cosy and nice ambience. Service was good too as when we arrived, the workers there warmly greeted us and quickly arrange our seating place for us and handling us the menu. We ordered the following as our drinks:
Food Photo
Good
Mango juice (RM 9.50)
A very good pure mango juice. This mango juice is very thick with very little water in it, unlike those diluted mango juice in some places where it is diluted with water. Another good thing is I don't think they added sugar into the juice, even if they added in, it must be very little because all I can taste is mango's natural sweetness and not from sugar. Very refreshing.
Food Photo
Avocado juice (RM 12.00)
The avocado juice is not bad either because it is very thick and rich in avocado but the taste is on the bland side as they did not add in sugar as well.

Before my friend and I start off our main dishes at Fresca, we had the following Guacamole with chips as our starter. Guacamole name comes from the Aztec translation of 'Guac' meaning avocado, and 'Mole' meaning sauce.

Guacamole with chips (RM20.00)

This starter came with a basket of Tortilla chips which is made of corn and avocado sauce as the dipping. The avocado is mashed and have similar texture with mashed potato. The difference it that the avocado is more creamy, thick and rich. The combination of the crispy chips and the dipping gives an interesting flavor to my palate. After finishing all the chips, we have plenty of the dippings left, but we still finished the dippings cause it was good.

Since there were only two of us, we ordered only two main dishes as the following at Fresca for our lunch.
Food Photo
GoodGreat!
Enchiladas Verdes (RM15)
Enchiladas Verdes is actually corn tortillas stuffed with shredded chicken covered in salsa verde and gratin-cheese finish.
Food Photo
GoodGreat!
Lots of shredded chicken were given but I don't really fancy the shredded chicken because I find them a bit dry. Not enough gravy. But when eaten together with the cheese, the chicken taste better as the cheese give the chicken a creamy and rich flavor.
Food Photo
Tacos Ensenada (RM 19.00)
Tacos Ensenada is a dish originated from Ensenada, Baja California. Tacos Ensenada is actually beer battered fish topped with coleslaw wrapped with flour tortillas. The addition of the coleslaw gives a crunchy texture to this dish. Supposedly the fish's batter contains beer but I can't taste the beer. To me, the fish tasted like the normal deep fried fish used in fish and chips and is slightly oily. The price for this dish is quite pricey as only 3 tacos ensenada being given.

Duck meal @ Kam Heong PJ

Time passes really fast as it is 6 months already since my last visit to Kam Heong. Today, mum and I finally tried Kam Heong's famous Lou Ngap aka braised duck for dinner. Besides the duck, we also had their braised duck intestines and gizzards. We returned home happy because the meal was good.

The chilli sauce to eat with the dishes are spicy and exciting.

Fragrant rice
The rice is good to eat even on its own and even nicer when eaten together with the gravy of the braised duck.

Braised duck
The above portion is for 2 people. The duck meat is tender & juicy and I don't really need to use much force to get the meat out from its bone. Although not healthy, it is best to eat the meat and skin together because it taste so good. Thumbs up..

Duck Gizzards
The gizzards were soft enough to chew unlike some places where the gizzards are so tough.

Duck Intestines
The intestines has a slight crunchy texture.

Both the gizzards & intestines were soaked in the delicious duck broth.

P/S: Do come early to avoid the crowd...

Fried chicken wings @ OUG night market

This fried chicken stall in the OUG night market sells three types of fried chicken wings. The chicken wings are Nam Yue fried chicken wing, Fried chicken wing wrapped with pandan leaf and honey chicken wing. Both the following fried chicken wings are RM 1.50 each.
Food Photo
"Nam Yue" aka red beancurd fried chicken wing
This is my first time eating Nam Yue fried chicken wing as usually, I only eat Nam Yue fried pork belly. The fermented bean curd gives a savory-sweet taste to the chicken wing. The taste of the chicken wing is just nice. Luckily, it is not too salty as some Nam Yue dishes are on the salty side.
Food Photo
Fried chicken wing wrapped with pandan leaf
This chicken wing is quite crispy and rich in pandan flavor. not bad...

Dark Chocolate Brownie @ OUG Night Market

I found Cake Love selling many varieties of cakes in the night market. The cakes include cheesecake, tiramisu, soya bean cake and the following dark chocolate brownie. This stall is operated by two young guys. Think they are brothers.
Food Photo
Good
This is huge box of dark chocolate brownie is only RM 9.00. If you were to get the same huge brownie at other places like cake shops, I am sure the price is doubled.

Food Photo
Good
The chocolate brownie is topped with a layer chopped hazelnuts. For a cheap brownie, I would say this cake is not bad. They are very generous in giving the hazelnut toppings. The cake is also moist and not overly sweet. But I would like it more if the cake has stronger chocolate taste.

Spicy Minced Meat Mee

Initially, I wanted to try the spare ribs noodles at this stall in the Danau Desa food co u rt but when I arrived at night around 9pm, the spare ribs already finished. Thus, I settled for a bowl of spicy minced mee.
Food Photo
GoodGreat!
Spicy minced mee (RM 4.50)

The soup of this bowl of mee is actually not spicy. The spiciness came from the minced meat itself where the meat is cooked with chilli and ham choy. I didn't really enjoyed the meat because it is quite spicy where I got choked from it a few times. Aside from the minced meat, other ingredients found in the mee included carrots, seaweed and plenty of vegetables. If I am not wrong, the noodles used is made by the operator herself. The texture is quite bouncy.
Food Photo
GoodGreat!
Excess soup from the mee
As can be seen from the picture, the plain soup is quite clear and tasty with very little oil.
